Chip ft. D Double E & Jammer remake The Streets classic

Check out this spanking new remake of The Streets classic, Has it come to this. Back in 2002 when Chipmonk was leaving primary school, Mike Skinner opened up our ears to something so fresh, who was this cockney white guy trying to rap? Gill SCOTT Heron paved the way for spoken word artists and now we see George The Poet taking it to new levels but Mike Skinner certainly played his part.

Musically the album sat wholly on its own and time has proven how strong the production was. In the days when Garage music was in our faces every way we turned, including the dance floors, Original Pirate Material was made for your cars, kitchens & bedrooms.

Oh, and we have to mention the artwork, iTunes was still in its infancy so we actually had a hard copy. The cover shot brought us straight to that illegal London pirate radio station in a local council high-rise block!

As for the track itself, the original was so strong it would have been difficult to go too far wrong. It’s so good to hear Chip back doing what made the success he is, just riding a beat. D Double & Jammer are also on it but for us Chip steals the show. In fact, if Mike Skinner fancied an official re-release, we’d suggest asking Chip to run solo & turning this into a Top 10 charter.

Thanks to Benji B for giving us the exclusive on BBC Radio One, been bumping it since!

Also thank to SBTV for the video.
