Last Friday night the Heavy Silence team headed into Town for the much-anticipated first London show for Jordan Rakei & his newly formed band. As many of you will know, we have been avid followers of his for a couple of years so the thought of seeing him live was a no brainer. Jordan is a Neo Soul / Jazz musician from Australia, he gained a huge following on his Soundcloud after his debut EP release; Franklins Room was released. He followed that up with ‘Groove Curse’ late 2014 and has worked with a number of great up & coming producers such as Tom Misch, Esta, FKJ and J Louis.

The Internet announce release date for Ego Death
US band, The Internet; released an album in September 2013 that has lived with many of us ever since. ‘Feel Good’ was a throwback to the RnB golden years of Angie Stone and just makes you feel warm and beautiful every time you listen.
They have just announced that their new album, ‘Ego Death’ will land on June 30th 2015.
The first sneak preview we had of the album was ealier this year when Kaytranada played ‘Girl’ during his Radio One residency and told the world he had been working with the band. If we recall correctly the band angrily tweeted at the time and stated the track was not even called Girl! Looks as though they changed their stance on that…
Jacob Banks takes us to Church
If Django was due to be released this Winter, I think Banks would have a strong contender for the score. His new single ‘Grace’ is raw, gospel influenced RnB at its finest.
The track is simply stunning and the more you listen, the more you enjoy.
New music from Tom Misch
As he continues to simmer on the underground and grow a loyal following, the outstandingly talented Tom Misch gives us a taste of summer with his latest release.
The track will be released on his own record label, Beyond The Groove and includes some backing vocals from our boy Jordan Rakei.
Forget Firefly, have you heard this?
It must feel as though Christmas come early for 18 year beat maker, Mura Masa; his recent single Firefly has been championed by BBC Radio One moguls, Annie Mac & Mista Jam. The song has featured as track of the day on Radio 1 and has reached almost 800k plays on Youtube in 4 weeks.
As much as the Heavy Silence team love Firefly, we can’t get enough of what he has done with ‘Usher – U don’t have to call’.
Check out our June playlist

SEX ON TOAST!
Here’s some instant playlist magic for you, a light-hearted throwback from the Australian band!
The 10-man band explosion Sex on Toast return with their brand spankin’ new single ‘Oh Loretta!’ Glistening with Blue-Eyed Soul and bubbling with immaculate studio musicianship, ‘Oh Loretta!’ harkens back to the days of slammin’ backbeats, warm vintage keyboards and 10 guys in hot threads cutting it live.
Jordan Rakei announces London date!
Ever since we heard about this man we have been screaming his name from the Hill Tops! Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Jordan Rakei has been devoted to writing and performing Neo Soul with hints of Reggae, Blues, Jazz and what ever soulful descriptive words you can think of.
He quickly developed a solid Soundcloud following after dropping his debut EP, Franklins Room, then followed it up with Groove Curse in 2014.
After spending time this year in South East London whilst recording and touring through Russia, Italy and Belgium, Jordan returns to the stage for a live show at Soho’s 100 Club.
